Hygiene producer to invest more than $400 million in Macon facility

Hygiene producer First Quality has announced its recently announced expansion project will be located at its site in Macon, GA. The investment, which includes a 50% increase in diaper and training pant manufacturing, new diaper and training pants lines and a state-of-the-art automated warehouse facility, has been valued at $418 million and will create 600 new jobs, according to Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp. “We’re always thankful when job creators like First Quality choose to expand in Georgia, and we’ll keep working to strengthen these long-term partnerships that enrich communities in every corner of the state,” he says. “More than 70 percent of last year’s economic development projects were expansions of businesses already operating here in our state, and thanks to companies like First Quality, that positive trend will continue.” First Quality will also be increasing its bladder control pad, protective underwear and underpad capacity by over 25%. This expansion will include an investment in manufacturing lines that will enable First Quality to satisfy the growing demands for its products. In addition, the company will be launching new innovative products not currently found in North America and introducing cutting-edge innovations and enhanced features. This expansion will be completed by September of 2025. “In March, First Quality announced that we will be increasing our baby diaper and training pant manufacturing capacity by 50 percent, and we are excited to announce our expansion will take place in Macon, Georgia,” says Allen Bodford, President of First Quality’s Absorbent Hygiene Division. “This expansion is a testament to First Quality’s innovative products and continuing commitment to the baby diaper market. We thank Governor Kemp, the Georgia Department of Economic Development, and the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority for their continued support. We also express our deep appreciation to our dedicated team in Macon for their tireless devotion to First Quality.” First Quality acquired the Macon facility in 2008 through the purchase of Covidien Retail Products.
